Three Signs That You Need Urgent Care

Having a healthy life is probably one of your biggest goals.  Staying healthy means that you must constantly arm yourself with knowledge about what is healthy and what is not. It is also good to be able to identify symptoms that can present a danger to your health. Here are three signs that you should not ignore because they usually indicate that you or your loved one needs urgent care.

A Headache Like No Other

If you suddenly start experiencing a terrible headache that is beyond anything that you have ever felt in your life, then it is time to visit the emergency room. Headaches that intense may be a sign that you have a broken blood vessel in your brain. When this happens, the bleeding causes your brain tissue to touch your skull which results in excruciating pain. The sooner you move to get medical help, the less destructive this emergency will be.

Sudden Bleeding

If you experience bleeding from the rectum, mouth or in your urine, then you are going to need urgent medical care. Blood coming from the rectum may be a sign of colon cancer. Coughing up blood may be a sign that you have lung cancer, and urinating blood may be an indication that you have bladder cancer. While these symptoms are frightening, if you move to get treatment at the first sign of blood, you have a greater chance of recovery. The key is to seek medical care immediately.

Severe Heartburn

While everyone experiences heartburn from time to time, over the counter remedies are usually good enough to make these symptoms subside. There are times when you should never take heartburn lightly. If you have severe heartburn that is accompanied by extreme dizziness, sweating, nausea and an uncharacteristic shortness of breath, then you should move to get help, as these may be signs of a heart attack. Call your doctor or get to the nearest hospital quickly. Remember not everyone experiences heart attack symptoms in the classic way, which usually involves chest pain, jaw and arm pain.

Recognizing the signs that you or a loved needs urgent care is just as important as knowing what to do to stay healthy. Urgent care saves lives and prevents a myriad of health problems that could otherwise have been avoided.  Read through the urgent care signs above carefully and make an effort to remember them, so that you will always know when to get immediate help.
