2 Tips for Reducing Injection Site Bruising Following a Botox Procedure

Botox is a fairly painless method that you can use to help correct any wrinkles or sagging on your face. The procedure involves using needles to inject a serum into the skin. While the needles are small, the procedure will often result in bruising around the injection site. The amount of bruising that you experience depends on how well you follow your doctor's aftercare procedure. In addition, you may notice increased amounts of bruising if you are dealing with sensitive skin. Bruises usually heal with time, but there are a few tips that you can use to help prevent bruising after a Botox procedure altogether.

Apply a Cold Pack against Your Inject Sites

A cold pack is often recommended after any type of surgical procedure, injection, or with muscle soreness because it helps to reduce inflammation. Skin that becomes inflamed after one of these procedures can often result in more bruising or increased levels of pain. You can create a cold pack by wrapping a handful of ice blocks in a thin cloth. Place the cloth in a plastic bag and place it in the freezer for a few minutes. Remove it, then apply the cold pack to your injection sites. If the pack feels too cold against your skin, wrap it in another clean cloth. Hold the ice pack against your injection sites for a few minutes before removing it.

Coat Your Injection Sites in Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is a herb that is most frequently used to ease external wounds. The gel from the aloe vera plants works quickly to promote healing, reduce inflammation and prevent bruising. You can apply the aloe vera gel by skinning a fresh aloe vera plant. Remove the gel and rub it between your hands until it is broken down. You can also use a fork to break down the aloe vera gel if it is not easy to do using your hands. Use your fingertips to dab the aloe vera gel onto your injection sites without applying to much pressure. Reapply the aloe vera gel throughout the day to ensure that your skin remains bruise free. You can easily find fresh aloe vera gel in a grocery store if you can't find a real aloe vera plant.

Bruising can put a damper on the recovery process following your Botox procedure. Therefore, use these tips to ensure that your face remains free of bruises.
